Olivia Hayle is one of my 1-Click authors. Instant auto-buy, no regrets. Usually, the “accidentally married in Vegas” trope doesn’t catch me. This time, it did. The Characters Connie: She’s tough and imminently capable — and struggles so much with feeling like nothing she ever does will be enough for her family to see her as that. She wants to be seen, wants to be trusted — and can’t trust the men in her family with her problems, because then they’ll never trust her to take care of herself. It’s a sticky situation to be in, and I feel…

This book is brilliant. Laugh-out-loud funny, heartwarming, swoony. He falls first and hard. I wouldn’t class it as a real enemies-to-lovers romance, as they only dislike each other during their first meeting. After that, they work really well together — up until the big third act crash. Their fake relationship feels real from the start, and there’s a legitimate reason for them to fake it — and their falling out is as character driven as their falling in love is. This is such a heartwarming and well crafted romance. I could kick myself that I almost skipped it because…

This fake relationship is comedy gold. Seriously. It’s laugh out loud funny — both leads have unique, snarky, absolutely killer funny voices. I wish I could write funny like that. Heat Level I wouldn’t exactly call this “high heat”, more middle heat with a little steam, but despite the length of 478 pages, and the first sex scene at around 60%, I didn’t miss it (which is rare for me, even rarer than a book having too much sex for me). The focus of the story was on the slow, emotional development,  the growing closeness, the bonding through spitefulness, and…

I hate it when books make me cry! (That’s a lie. I love it). This was really deeply character driven, and so, so good. I’ve been put through the emotional wringer. Just, wow. At around 87%, I didn’t think a happy ending was possible, but Wilder pulled it off. KUDOS! Grey and Ethan are both incredibly real from the start (I want to be able to pull that off!). I was hesitant to read a romance about actors in Hollywood as it’s generally not a topic I’m interested in, but they’re both so, so cute! I love how excruciatingly slow…

A Masters of The Manor Novella When Thea Miller sells 34 plastic skulls to the gorgeous stranger at a garage sale, she doesn’t know he takes her mother’s life savings with him. As the town’s new resident psychiatrist, Charles Montgomery has a reputation to uphold; giving in to his desire for twisted games isn’t on the agenda. But Thea is hard to resist, and when he catches her breaking into his house to steal the skulls back, he proposes a deal: a chase through the woods. If she wins, the skulls are hers. She wants the money. One game of…

Why I loved this book: From the first page, it put a big, goofy smile on my face. Sonja is 40, and it’s a whole thing for her that Atlas is nine years younger. A Taste of her own Medicine also has what makes a feel-good romance really good: friendships and family.

She wants to expose him. Emma Hardwick has one goal in life; okay, maybe two: provide for her family and expose the man who launched his career with her grandmother’s words. But just when she’s about to broadcast the truth about one of America’s most beloved literary giants, she runs into one pesky obstacle: his son. And he’s not about to let her ruin his father’s legacy. He wants to own her. Harlan Michaels wants only one thing: a child. And, ideally, a family. When Emma threatens something very dear to him, there’s one easy fix to get rid of…

Why I loved this book: Tamsen Parker’s writing is just beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Angsty and intense and kinky. I love to really get in the head of the characters when reading a kinky story, and Parker gives me that and more. Daddy kink is always tricky for me, but this books works so well. Plus, she goes the extra mile to take a highly problematic premise and make it good – that’s real skill. Content warnings: mental illness, depression, suicide

Why I loved this book: Wonderful writing and lovely, deliciously twisted kink. Plus, roller derby. The characters are layered and real; Ty a grumpy curmudgeon who tries to do the right thing, and Kate the quirky ray of sunshine with ADHD (hello, sister) who wants to befriend his penis. And the rest of him, of course. This books delivers the whole bandwidth of emotions, and Eve Dangerfield is an auto-buy author for me. Content Warnings:  grooming (not by the hero), attempted date rape/drugging (not by the hero).

Why I loved this book: A grumpy Scandinavian hero? YES, please. The kink is rather mild in this one, but the content warnings are heavy: The heroine deals with an eating disorder and self-destructive thoughts.
